Ronin (warrior with no client)

A Japanese fellow said I was "Ronin".

He is a Professor at NYU.

We were standing outside a gallery exhibit in Manhattan that I had gone up to help curate, having a smoke.

He then bowed in a very particular way.

It was gallant and had the quality of a banner dip from massed cavalry.

At first I was annoyed but that was only because he was on to something.

I join up for causes and it don't matter what the prospects are like.

In fact, I'm there only if I think I'm needed or to see if I can help.

I don't often have much to show for it, this habit of mine.

Others can be forgiven for thinking I've done nothing when they've never seen what I've done.
